New York, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's and women's swim teams traveled to Baruch College on October, 29 for their season opener and swept the host. The women topped Baruch 104-39 and the men came away with a 109-75 win. The win gives both the men and women a 1-0 start this season. On the women's side Elizabeth Ebert (Middletown, Conn.), Kathy Dodd (Albany, GA) and Jerri Lester all won multiple races. Ebert won the 800 yard freestyle and the 400 yard freestyle, while Dodd took home wins in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard freestyle. Lester claimed individual wins in both the 100 backstroke and the 200 yard individual medley. John Conciatori (Whitestone, N.Y.) was the big winner on the men's side. Conciatori won the 100 yard freestyle, the 400 yard freestyle and the 50 yard freestyle. Freshman Charles Castillo (Uniondale, N.Y.) and Matt Jordan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) were the only other Panthers to win multiple events. Castillo took home wins in the 200 yard individual medley and the 100 yard breaststroke, while Jordan claimed wins in the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard backstroke. Adelphi returns to action when they travel to Flushing, New York for a tri-meet with Queens College and C.W. Post at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 3rd. |
