Swimming Opens the Season with Split of Baruch

 
 

 
Terzano picked up two wins in the loss to Baruch.

New York, N.Y. - The Adelphi swim team traveled to New York, New York on Tuesday, October 21 to open the 2008-09 season against Baruch College. Both the men and women picked up five individual wins, but the women also captured both relays, collecting a 131-70 victory, while the men fell, 113-86.

Nicole Mulligan and Charlotte Davies were each double winners on the women's side, as Mulligan collected victories in the 50 yard freestyle (30.14) and the 100 yard backstroke (1:13.79) and Davies picked up wins in the 200 yard freestyle (2:23.91) and 100 freestyle (1:07.32). In addition Kelly Mark claimed a win in the 800 yard freestyle with a time of 10:33.04.

Adelphi also captured both relays, winning the 200 medley relay, 2:16.22 to 2:18.19 and the 200 yard freestyle relay, 2:09.92 to 2:13.97.

The men were led by Zach Terzano and Tory Cozzi. Terzano won both the 800 yard freestyle (9:43.09) and the 400 yard freestyle (4:33.14), while Cozzi managed victories in the 200 yard freestyle (2:06.52) and the 100 yard freestyle (56.43). Corey McKee was the only other Panther to pick up a win as he captured a win in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.09.

Adelphi returns to action on October 26 when they participate in the Bentley Invitational in Waltham, Massachusetts.
