Prelims|Finals

Houston, TX - Making his NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championship debut, freshman Corey McKee places 16th in the 200-yard Fly at the Indoor National Championships Festival in Houston, Texas. The native of Crescent, Canada becomes Adelphi's first NCAA qualifier in swimming to place and score points in the championship meet in the past twenty years or more.

McKee's day began with a 10:00 a.m. prelim call time, where he would have to swim nearly a personal best to make the finals. The freshman answered with a 1:51.01, 13th place showing - more than a second faster than his seed time and school record of 1:52.16, which he set at the METs championships. McKee would be the first of the Brown and Gold in the NCAA competition to make it to the finals - Adelphi also having three track athletes entered.

Later that evening, McKee took the water again, surrounding himself with the best Division II has to offer. The freshman was quick off the start, second to the first wall in his heat, however, would have to settle for a 16th place with a 1:52.88 in the 200 fly. With his touch of the wall, Adelphi would earn its first point in nearly a quarter century as a team, and at the time of this release, stand in 27th place. McKee was also named an All-American Honorable Mention for his effort.

This concludes Corey McKee and the rest of the the Mermen's season. The Panthers will enter their home pool once again later this fall as the renovation of Woodruff Hall comes to a completion.
