Pittsburgh, PA - The Adelphi men's and women's swim teams traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Friday, February 24 to compete in the three-day ECAC Championship meet. Adelphi had five men qualify and swim individual events and swam three relays, Jerri Lester (El Paso, Texas) was the lone woman to earn a trip to the event. The men placed 11th overall with 53 points, while Lester placed 13th with 23 points. Both the men and women improved on their placing from a year ago. In 2005 the women placed 22nd, while the men captured 23rd overall. Lester collected 23 points by placing in the top-ten in two events. She placed ninth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.43 and placed an impressive fifth overall in the 100-yard backstroke with a clocking of 1:00.1. The men's three relay teams proved to be very successful, earning a combined 40 points in just three events. The 200 yard medley relay placed 12th (1:39.65), the 200 yard freestyle relay placed 11th (1:27.92) and the 400 yard medley relay produced a ninth place finish (3:36.97). Individually Matt Jordan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) was the only member of the Adelphi men's team to place in the top-10. Jordan placed seventh overall in the 50-yard freestyle, stopping the clock in a time of 21.48. |
