Jerri Lester captured two top five finishes.

New Brunswick, N.J. - The men's and women's swim teams traveled to New Brunswick, NJ on February 16 for the Metropolitan Swim Championships. Both teams improved upon last year's performances, the men improving one spot to seventh overall and the women improving three to take home eighth.

The men captured ten top-ten finishes in the meet, five individual and five relays. Senior, Matthew Jordan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) who took home the men's only top five finish led the men. Jordan placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.57. In the preliminary round, he achieved the D2B qualifier with a time of 21.44. Matthew also placed eighth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.33.

Other individual top-ten finishes included Brendan Berry (Bellerose, N.Y.) who placed tenth overall in the 1650 freestyle with 17:42.12 swim. Junior, Charlie Castillo (Wantagh, N.Y.) swam 2:15.61 in the 200 breaststroke, good for tenth place. Freshman, Brad Meaney (Staten Island, N.Y.) rounded out the top-ten finishers taking tenth in the 400 IM with a swim of 4:23.63.

The women placed four individuals and five relays in the top ten to help them secure their eighth place finish. Senior, Jerri Lester (El Paso, TX) took two fourth place finishes in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke and an eighth place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.61. Lester finished the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 59.98, hitting the B qualifying standard for ECAC's. She also achieved the B qualifier in the 200 backstroke with a 2:09.16 swim. Freshman, Rachel Rice (Houston, TX) was the other individual who placed in the top ten, finishing the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:33.97 for tenth place.
