Hoboken, NJ - The Adelphi men's and women's swim team traveled to Hoboken, New Jersey to close out the dual meet portion of their schedule against Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday, January 31. The Adelphi men swam to a 104-85 win, while the women managed a 94-94 tie. With the win, the men finish the season with a record of 5-3, while the women close out the season with a mark of 4-4-1. The women posted three individual first place finishes, two credited to Jerri Lester (El Paso, Texas) and one to Kathy Dodd (Albany, Georgia). Lester placed first in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.50) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.33), while Dodd took home first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.30). On the men's side, four swimmers combined for six individual first place finishes. Matt Jordan (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Benjamin Dellagiovanna (Forest Hills, N.Y.) were the only multiple winners. Jordan placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (21.96) and the 100-yard freestyle (48.75), while Dellagiovanna took home first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.07) and the 100-yard backstroke (55.59). Brendan Berry (Bellerose, N.Y.) claimed first in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:22.09) and Charlie Castillo (Wantagh, N.Y.) managed a first place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.92). Adelphi will open the championship portion of their season at the Metropolitan Championships. |
