Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University golf team maintained its number three ranking in the NCAA Division II Northeast Region poll, released on October 12 by Golfstat, the scorekeeping service for NCAA golf. The Panthers have three players ranked in the top-30 in the region among individuals: junior Brant Kummerfeld (74.56 scoring average for nine rounds) is ranked third; senior Jantzen Vargas (75.44 scoring average for nine rounds) is ranked 11th; and freshman Matt Demeo (77.00 scoring average for nine rounds) is ranked 30th.

Bryant (303.56 scoring aggregate for nine rounds) is ranked first, followed by LeMoyne (310.00 for ten rounds) and Adelphi (302.78 for nine rounds). St. Thomas Aquinas (302.82 for eleven rounds) and Bentley (311.88 for eight rounds) complete the top-five.

Robert Leopold (72.71 scoring average for seven rounds) of Bentley is the top ranked player in the district, followed by Rob Younker (74.44 for nine rounds) of Assumption and Adelphi's Kummerfeld.

Adelphi senior Mauricio Saavedra (77.44 for nine rounds) moved up 17 spots and is now ranked 37th in the region. Junior Oliver Hudesman (79.22 for nine rounds) is ranked 62nd and junior Joe Ostrowski (79.33 for three rounds) is ranked 69th among the more than 150 individuals in the Northeast Region.

The Panthers lead the district in all four scoring categories: average team score (302.78); team score versus par (19.22 strokes over par per round); average individual score (76.81), and average dropped score (82.01).

Adelphi returns to action on Sunday, October 14, at the Dominican College Charger Classic at the Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, New York.
