Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University golf team is ranked third in the NCAA Division II Northeast Region rankings released by Golfstat, the scorekeeping service for NCAA golf, on September 27. The Panthers have three players ranked in the Top 15 among individuals: freshman Matt Demeo (75.5 scoring average for four rounds) is ranked 11th; junior Brant Kummerfeld (75.7 scoring average for four rounds) is ranked 12th; and senior Jantzen Vargas (76.0 scoring average for four rounds) is ranked 15th.

Bryant (302.00 average scoring aggregate for three rounds) is ranked first, followed by Assumption (303.67 for three rounds) and Adelphi (306.00 for four rounds). Pace (308.00 for four rounds) and St. Thomas Aquinas (304.43 for four rounds) complete the top five.

Robert Leopold (73.0 scoring average for three rounds) of Bentley is the top ranked player in the district, followed by Scott Congdon (73.67 for three rounds) of Bryant and Rob Younker (74.0 for three rounds) of Assumption.

Adelphi senior Mauricio Saavedra (79.5 scoring average for four rounds) is ranked 54th and junior Oliver Hudesman (80.5 for four rounds) is ranked 69th among the more than 150 individuals in the Northeast Region.

The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, October 2, in the Army Junior Mule Kicker Fall Classic at the West Point Golf Course in West Point, New York.
