Suffern, N.Y. - The Adelphi University golf team traveled to Suffern, New York on Sunday, October 11 to compete in the Dominican College Charger Challenge at the Spook Rock Golf Course. The Panthers shot a one day total of 302 to hold a five shot lead, while Stuart Pulkinen has a three shot lead in the race for the individual title. Adelphi leads second place Wilmington (DE) by five shots and St. Thomas Aquinas sits one shot back in third at 308. Host Dominican is in fourth (314), while Pace is fifth overall with a score 321. Only one week after finishing second in the Northeast-10 championships, Pulkinen shot a 3-under 69, and was the only golfer under par on the day. Next for the Panthers was senior Matt Demeo, who was tied for sixth with three others at 76 strokes. Senior Jason Doppelt finished just two strokes behind Demeo with a 78, and ended the day tied for 11th with four others. Finishing one stroke later, sophomore Joshua Hamlett and freshman Jonathan Singer finished tied for 16th with three others, with both shooting 79. The Panthers will return to action on Monday, October 12 when they conclude play at the Dominican Charger Challenge. |
