Shoreham, N.Y. - The Adelphi University golf team is in second place in the 10-team Adelphi University Fall Invitational at Tallgrass Country Club in Shoreham, New York. The Panthers (296) were led by senior Jantzen Vargas, who shot a one-over par round of 72 and is tied for second place in a field of 60 individuals. Junior Oliver Hudesman added a two-over par round of 74.

UMass-Lowell (294) leads the team competition, with Adelphi in second and Post (297) in third. St. Thomas Aquinas (300) is in fourth, followed by Assumption (304) and Wilmington (304).

Calum Malcolm of Post shot an even-par round of 71 to head the field of individuals, with Vargas (72) and Anthony Gallardo (72) of UMass-Lowell tied for second place.

The Panthers also received strong showings from junior Brant Kummerfeld (75), freshman Matt Demeo (75), and senior Mauricio Saavedra, who added a 78.

Adelphi returns to action on Monday, October 8, at the Adelphi University Fall Invitational at Tallgrass Country Club in Shoreham, New York.
