Golf Sits in Third Heading into The Final Round of The Dowling College September Shootout

 
 

 
Adelphi returns to action on Monday, September 17.

Riverhead, New York - The Adelphi University men's golf team is in third place after day one of the 16-team Dowling College September Shootout. The first round was played on Sunday at Long Island National Golf Course in Riverhead, New York.

The Panthers (304) were led by junior Brant Kummerfeld (74), who is in a tie for fourth place in the 80-player field. Senior Jantzen Vargas shot a 76 while junior Oliver Hudesman (77) and freshman Matt Demeo (77) contributed to Adelphi's team total.

Pace (303) and Assumption (303) are tied atop the leaderboard, one stroke ahead of Adelphi and UMass-Lowell (304). St. Thomas Aquinas (309) is in fifth place, followed by Post (311) and Dominican (312).

Michael Dominici (72) of Pace and Anthony Gallardo (72) of UMass-Lowell are tied for the lead among individuals.

Kummerfeld played his final seven holes in even par en route to his three-over par round of 74. Senior Mauricio Saavedra added a 79.

The Panthers return to action on Monday, September 17, at the Dowling College September Shootout at Long Island National GC in Riverhead, New York.
