Golf Finished Third At NYCAC Championships

The Adelphi University Golf team finished third with a team score of 658 at the NYCAC Championship held at the Pine Barrens Country Club in Jackson, N.J. Sean Cahalare was the top finisher for the Panthers, placing third overall.

St. Thomas Aquinas College won its second consecutive straight title witha team score of 632 for two days, seventeen strokes better than runner-up Queens College.

Medalist Jayson Kohlman shot a 77 after 18 holes on Monday and then a 79 during Tuesday's 2nd round for a 2-day total of 156 to fend off STAC teammate Kevin Campbell and Cahalare, who both shot a 157 for the tournament. Campbell then won a one-hole sudden-death playoff en route to second place.

Senior Matt Battle (160) and Bill Allen (170), along with freshman Matt DeMaro (159) helped St. Thomas Aquinas to the title.

Hakim Drissi-Kaitouni Queens College's Hakim Drissi-Kaitouni, a computer science major with a 3.93 GPA, was named the Scholar-Athlete for the event.
