Sparkill, N.Y. - The Adelphi golf team traveled to Sparkill, New York on April 10 and 11 to compete in the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference championships. The Panthers shot a two-day team score of 713, placing fourth. St. Thomas Aquinas compiled a two-day total of 622 to secure the win, while New Haven (642) placed second and Dowling (648) finished fourth. Jantzen Vargas (Danielson, CT) was the high man for Adelphi, finishing tied for seventh overall with a score of 159 (81-78). Teammate Mauricio Saavedra (Cochabamba, Bolivia) finished ninth overall, just one stroke behind Vargas (79-81-160). New Haven's Brent Silano won the NYCAC individual title with a score of 149 (72-77) and was named Player of The Year. Pat Schwarze of St. Thomas Aquinas was named Rookie of The Year, while St. Thomas Aquinas Head Coach, Ken Bortner earned Coach of The Year honors.
