Alt Wins Shortened St. Thomas Aquinas Spring Invite

This is Peter Alt's first career victory.

March 19, 2007

Ocean City, MD - On a frigid and windy day with temperatures hovering in the low 30's Adelphi University senior Peter Alt posted a three-over par round of 75, which bested 49 other individuals and won him the individual title at the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spring Invitational. As a team, the Panthers posted a 332 aggregate and finished seventh in the 10-team field.

Alt secured the Medalist honor by draining an eleven-foot uphill par putt on the 18th green to cap a round that saw him chip in from off the green on consecutive holes - the sixth and seventh holes - to reach three-under par headed to the eighth tee.

Junior Craig Wiley, making his debut for the Panthers, and junior Jantzen Vargas each shot an 85 to finish in a tie for 25th place in the 50-player field.

Winter-like weather conditions at the par-72 Rum Pointe Golf Course in Ocean City, Maryland kept the average score for the field to just 85.30. The two-day event was also shortened to one day due to weather conditions.

The individual title for Alt is the first Medalist honor won by an Adelphi golfer since Kevin Loftus shot a 69 to win the Manhattanville College Invitational in April 2003.

Adelphi returns to action on March 26 in the Goldey Beacom College Invitational at the Hartefeld National Golf Course in Avondale, Pennsylvania.
