Commitment to Community Service

The goals of the AU CHAMPS/ Life Skills Community Service initiatives are to engage the student-athlete in service on campus and surrounding communities. By participating in community service projects, student athletes are taught the valuable gift of giving back to the community which is an important life lesson.

    Toiletries Drive
    CHAMPS/LifeSkills will continue their partnership with the Salvation Army of Hempstead in collecting toiletries during all Men's and Women's Basketball home games. Each team has been assigned a home game listed below and will support the effort by donating a toiletry. Toiletry items may include but are not limited to, toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrush, bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, etc. Drop boxes will be positioned at the main entrance of the Center for Recreation & Sports.     Call for Volunteers!!
    On Monday December 8, 2008 CHAMPS/LifeSkills is asking for volunteers to give up a few hours of their day to go to Winthrop University Hospital to present Adelphi's donation from the Cans for Cancer program as well as to pass out Christmas gifts to the children.
