Hopkinton, N.H. - Led by two All-Region performance from
Sean Grady and
Michael Grady, the Adelphi University men's cross country team earned seventh place at the NCAA East Region Championship while the women placed 11th. The meet was hosted at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds by Franklin Pierce.
Senior Sean led the effort for the Brown and Gold with a 13th place finish of 32:10.4 behind an average mile time of 5:10.6 on the 10k course. Meanwhile, younger brother Michael joined Sean on the All-Region squad by turning in a 32:15.6 time for 17th place after running a 5:11.5 average mile.
The next four finishers for the Panthers all finished in consecutive order within five seconds of each other to make up the top-six. A 42nd place finish time of 33:09.9 from
Jose Velasquez led the group while
Branden Warders turned in a clocking of 33:10.7 for 43rd.
Gerard Connelly and
Anthony Coccia finished in 44th and 45th respectively with times of 33:11.8 and 33:14.3.
Freshman
Nicole Julian led the women's 11th place finish with an average mile time 6:16.7 to total a 6k time of 23:24.5 for 41st place. Meanwhile,
Nicole Elarde also placed within the top-50 for Adelphi in 45th. The senior ran to a 23:29.3 time to earn 43 points for the Brown and Gold.
American International won the regional crown to earn a berth into the NCAA Championship meet while Stonehill and Bentley finished in second and third to also earn berths. The women's crown was earned by Stonehill followed by Assumption and Roberts Wesleyan.
