Brantley, Mejia Land on NE-10 First-Team, Hassell and Santiago Earn All-Rookie Honors

South Easton, Mass. - The Northeast-10 Conference announced its 2014 Baseball All-Conference Teams on Wednesday morning, as Merrimack College sophomore Frank Crinella has been named the Northeast-10 Player of the Year and Southern Connecticut State University senior Rocco Cundari has been selected as the Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Year, as voted upon by the league's head coaches. Senior Richard Mejia and junior Cliff Brantley were the members of the Adelphi baseball program that earned First-Team recognition, while freshman Eric Hassell and TJ Santiago were named to the All-Rookie squad. 

Brantley, in his first season in a Panther uniform as a junior hit his way to the NE-10 batting title, posting the highest average at the conclusion of the regular season at .405. In 168 bats, the Staten Island native picked up 68 hits with 10 doubles, two triples and one home run to post a .506 slugging percentage. He scored 30 runs and drove in 20, while also swiping 22 bases along the way. 

Mejia, a Jackson, New Jersey native ranked second on the team and third in the NE-10 with a .390 average. In 38 games he drove in 38 runs courtesy of 12 doubles, two triples and one home run for a .521 slugging percentage. Last season, the third baseman earned recognition on the second-team for his efforts. 

In his inaugural season as a Panther, Hassell sat third on the team with a .316 average and top-15 in the conference as a freshman. Appearing at the plate 79 times, he collected 25 hits and drove in 12 runs. His best outing occured on April 16th, in the teams 6-2 victory over Pace University. Hassell went 4-for-4 at the plate and had three RBIs in the win.

Santiago, hailing from  Linden, New Jersey was the final member of the team to earn All-Conference accolades. In 12 appearnaces on the hill for the Panthers, he earned two wins and two saves over 53.0 innings pitched. He held opposing teams to a .295 average and struck out 39 batters. 

The squad will travel to Southern Connecticut for the first round of the Northeast-10 Conference to face-off against the Owls at 3:30 p.m on Wednesday afternoon.
