Field Hockey Makes Strides For Breast Cancer, Will "Play4theCure" on Saturday

Garden City, NY - The Adelphi University field hockey team braved a chilly boardwalk Sunday morning to participate in the Making Strides for Breast Cancer at Jones Beach. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events are a celebration of survivorship an occasion to express hope and the shared determination of many to make this breast cancer's last century.

Along with participating in the walk, the program will be hosting Stonehill College this Saturday, October 25 in a combined effort by the Northeast-10 and The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) to "Play4theCure". Teams across all divisions are joining the cause on some level. Longstreth has donated a pink ceremonial game ball and bracelets will be sold at the game. Anyone wishing to support either can give donations to head coach Gloria O'Connor, payable to "Play4the Cure". Every dollar raised will be dedicated to cancer research projects selected by each participating team.

The NFHCA is a non-profit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport.
