2013 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Tennis Championship Release
Manchester, N.H. - Adelphi University women's tennis senior
Maria Toft was named to the 2013 Northeast-10 Conference All-Championship Team, it was announced on Saturday. The selection marks the third time Toft has made the NE-10 All-Championship team during her four-year career as a Panther.
Toft played a crucial role in Adelphi's 5-0 win over fifth-seeded Bentley in the opening round of the playoffs, prevailing 6-1, 6-1 at top flight singles and pairing with
Bianca Posa for an 8-1 victory at first doubles. She then battled with two-time NE-10 Player of the Year Alena Mukdaprakorn in a 5-2 setback to Southern New Hampshire in the NE-10 Semifinals but fell in three sets (6-2, 2-6, 6-0) at first singles.
Last week, Toft was named NE-10 All-Conference Second Team for No. 1 singles after going 14-6 overall and 10-2 in league play. Toft and the Panthers, who have been selected to three straight NCAA Tournaments, await a potential bid to the East Region tournament which will be announced during the Division II selection show on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. at NCAA.com.
