Adelphi Holds National Student-Athletes Awards Night

On Thursday, April 11, the 2013 National Student-Athlete Awards Dinner was held in Campbell Lounge of the Center for Recreation and Sport to recognize current student-athletes successes in the classroom as well as their participation in community service.
 
A total of 26 athletes across 14 teams received awards in the form of the Presidential Award, Faculty Athletic Representative Academic Award, Faculty Recognition Award and Certificate of Recognition Award along with the Z. Paul Aikian Scholarship Award, Graduate Student Athlete Award and lastly, the TD Bank Academic Team Excellence Award.
 
The Presidential Award

Bri Popham - Volleyball
 
The Presidential Award recognizes student-athlete with a senior class status that have balanced academics, athletics, community service, and campus involvement. Each student is required to maintain a minimum of 3.3 GPA.

Faculty Athletic Representative Academic Award
Colleen Raga - Volleyball
James McCormack - Baseball
Heather Salerno - Softball
David Campmier - Men's Track & Field
 
The Faculty Athletic Representative Academic Award is presented to students who maintain at minimum a 3.7 GPA with a junior or senior status, along with athletic excellency and community involvement.
 
Faculty Recognition Award
Emily Dorko - Volleyball/Softball
Chelsea Overholt - Volleyball
Travis Tennie - Men's Soccer
Maria Toft - Women's Tennis
Aidan Bennardo - Men's Lacrosse
Katherine Hundertmark - Women's Track & Field/Cross Country
Monica Martinez - Women's Track & Field
Jami DeGrote - Field Hockey
 
The Faculty Recognition Award is given to those student-athletes who are able to share different abilities that enhance academic and athletic experiences among their classmates and peers. A minimum 3.3 GPA is required.
 
Certificate of Recognition Award
Amy Caird - Softball
Nicole Lesniak - Dance
Andres Hammar - Men's Tennis
Victoria Wink - Softball
Alison Gronenthal - Women's Soccer
Kayla Rieger - Softball
Kathryn Rivera - Women's Bowling
 
These student-athletes are acknowledged for their involvement in the community and on campus by the National Student-Athlete Awards committee and display the attributes of a successful humanitarian. A minimum GPA of 3.3 is required.
Z. Paul Akian Scholarship Award
Katie Andrews - Softball
Brandon Joachim - Men's Track & Field
 
The Z. Paul Akian Scholarship Award is given to one male and female student-athlete that successfully balances academics, athletics, and community/campus involvement noted by the National Student-Athlete Awards committee. A minimum 3.3 GPA is required and the recipients will receive a $500 grant.
Graduate Student-Athlete Award
Bradley Simpson - Men's Basketball
Bianca Hernandez - Volleyball
Stephanie Filippazzo - Women's Track & Field/Cross Country
 
The Graduate Student-Athlete Award is given to a student-athlete who is not only successful in athletics but also achieves excellence in a graduate setting. A 3.3 GPA is required.
 
TD Bank Academic Team Excellence Award
Softball - 3.499 grade point average

This award is given to the team with the highest overall GPA.
