Garden City, N.Y. – In an effort to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy, members of the men's and women's soccer teams donated their time on Saturday at St. Paul's to help collect items for the victims storm.
 
The collection drive on November 17 at St. Paul's athletic fields in Garden City, N.Y. was spearheaded by Head Men's Soccer Coach, Carlo Acquista and the Garden City Centennial Soccer Club.
 
“There are many communities that have lost so much due to the Hurricane,” said Acquista. “It was fantastic to have our team, along with the women's team, come together and do our part in helping the families in need.”
 
During the day while the local soccer games were being played, the Panthers helped collections at two of the stations that were set up. All of the items collected were donated to the communities on the south shore that have been devastated from the hurricane.
 
The effort collected dozens of bags that included toiletries, household cleaning supplies, clothing, non-perishable foods, bottled water, personal hygiene items, batteries, flashlights, blankets and many other items that can be utilized.
