Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's and women's basketball teams kicked off the 2012-13 season in style, entertaining the crowd of over 1,000 people on Sunday, October 14, in the Center for Recreation and Sports. In conjunction with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, the event raised over $270 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The annual opening event of basketball season featured performances by the Adelphi cheerleading and dance teams, the Hip Hop Club and the Step Team. A slam dunk contest and introductions of players from both the men's and women's baskeball teams set the tone for what aims to be an exciting season of Northeast-10 Conference hoops.
Both squads opens the season on November 10, with the men traveling to the University of Bridgeport and the women heading to Long Island University Post. The Panthers are slated to play their home opener on November 14 when they host Southern Connecticut, beginning with the women's game at 5:30 p.m.
