Garden City, N.Y. – The Adelphi University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics officially launched their efforts in the Think Pink initiative last week on Tuesday, October 9 with the Kickoff Walk. Additionally, there were several home contests that were played in honor of supporting Breast Cancer Awareness.
The kickoff event was a success once again as the department welcomed the children and staff at the Early Learning Center for a walk around the track in the Center for Recreation and Sport. Additionally, it marked the first day of selling BCA items such as mugs, hats, umbrellas, key chains and t-shirts among other items.
Raffle tickets will be sold through October 31
st with the winners being drawn and announced on November 1. Baskets were donated by each team to add to the raffle prize pool that includes four grand prizes: Lunch for four and a tour of Google's New York headquarters, a Kindle, a Fortune Tree and a Red Door Spa Basket.
If you are interested in donating to the cause or buying BCA items or raffle tickets, you can do so at the main office of the athletic offices located on the second floor of the Center for Recreation and Sport. Also, a table will be set up in the University Center on Tuesday, 10/23 and Wednesday, 10/31 from 11am-3pm.
So far, over $2,000 has been raised. A list of raffle prizes can be
