Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University women's basketball team held a free clinic for the Saint Anne's School Catholic Youth Organization girls team on Tuesday in the Center for Recreation and Sports. The clinic, part of the contiuned joint community service efforts between the University and its teams, gave the Panthers an opportunity to give back to the future stars of Long Island youth basketball.
Players in fifth through eigth grade got hands-on instruction from Head Coach
Heather Jacobs and the rest of the Adelphi roster and staff. Campers worked on fundamental basketball skills, such as ball handling, form shooting, lay-ups, defensive stances, passing, cutting and communication.
"Having the girls come to campus was a great opportunity for both our team and the CYO girls," Jacobs said. "We are always excited to work with our local community programs.  It was a a fun learning experience for everyone and we are looking forward to the next clinic."
The Panthers, sporting a revamped assistant coaching staff and six new players, open the 2012-13 season on November 10 at LIU Post.
