The Adelphi University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics kicked off its 4th Annual Jennifer Montgomery Breast Cancer Awareness events on Friday October 8, with a fun run/walk for the students, faculty, staff and the Garden City community in the Center for Recreation and Sports.

Students, athletes, faculty, staff, friends and the community streamed in and out of the Center for Recreation and Sports from 11am until 4pm, participating in the walk, purchasing raffle tickets for the opportunity to win one of the many great prize baskets and buying "Think Pink" merchandise in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

"Our kick off fun run and walk was a great way to start our month long effort to bring awareness and raise money for a terrific cause," Senior Woman Administrator Suzette McQueen commented. "The turn out and support from the campus and local community was truly special and we thank everyone who supported us and was involved today for their contribution and we hope you'll continue to "Think Pink!"

The department will also sell raffle tickets from now until the drawing on October 13. A list of all of the raffle baskets, including a special lunch and tour of Google offices in New York City, are located on Adelphi's athletic website.

All proceeds from the month will be donated to the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Awareness Hotline & Support Program. To date, the Athletics Department has collected over $17,000 for the program.
