Nov. 23, 2004 Garden City, N.Y. - Junior Aaron Cummings (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and senior Dina Cali (Valley Stream, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of The Week for the week of November 23, 2004. Cummings helped pace the Panthers to a 1-2 record last week including a big non-conference win against Bentley College. For the week Cummings averaged 5.3 points and a team best eight rebounds and five assists per contest, including an 11 points, seven rebound and seven assist performance in a tight loss to defending NCAA Northeast Region champ UMASS-Lowell. Adelphi returns to action on Tuesday, November 23rd when they open their conference schedule in Dobbs Ferry, New York against host Mercy College at 7:30 pm. Cali helped the #8 ranked Panthers reach the NCAA women's Division II Final Four for the first time since 1992 last saturday. Cali opened the scoring in the 14th minute to give Adelphi a brief 1-0 lead, then with Adelphi down 2-1 Cali struck again, knotting the game at two in the 87th minute of play. The Panthers would advance on penalty kicks, 6-5. Adelphi will take on #7 Carson-Newman on Thursday, December 2nd in Wichita Falls, Texas at 5:30 pm central time. The winner will advance to the National title game to be held on Saturday, December 4th. |
