Nov. 2, 2004 Garden City, N.Y. - Junior Michael Hurley (Freeport, N.Y.) and freshman Christina Vandling (Endicott, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of The Week for the week of November 2, 2004. Hurley posted a 0.050 goals-against-average in Adelphi's two wins last week. Hurley collected eight saves and allowed just one goal in the Panthers 2-1 win over Columbia University. Against NJIT Hurley claimed his first shutout as an Adelphi goalkeeper by making three saves in the Panthers 2-0 win over NJIT. For his efforts, Hurley was named ASC Goalie of The Week. Adelphi returns to action on Friday, November 5th when they travel to Miami, Florida to take on conference power Florida International University at 7:00 pm. Vandling, a 6-4 middle blocker, amassed 29 kills with a .458 percentage and 12 blocks in conference wins over New Haven and Molloy and she added 16 kills in a four-set non-conference win against Pace. For her efforts Vandling was named NYCAC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, November 2, completing their regular season at home with a conference match against Southampton College at 7 pm. |
