Midnight Madness 2005

Adelphi University hosted over 900 students, alumni, faculty and staff at its annual Midnight Madness Celebration. The event, held in Woodruff Hall on October 14, marks the first official day of basketball practice and thus the start of the season.

Even rain couldn't keep fans away, who began lining up as early as 9:00 p.m. There were great performances by the Adelphi Dance and Cheer teams as well as the hip-hop and step teams. Kudos to MC Christina "Mouth" Semey for an outstanding job! Adelphi's Panther mascot as well as the NCAA mascot J.J. Jumper were also on hand to get the crowd hyped.

Many thanks to the great sponsors. First time sponsor Redbull brought a phenomenal DJ. Radio station Power 105.1 was also there, giving away free Mary J. Blige concert tickets. Contests included the Staples Free Car shootout, with a SRT-4 Dodge Neone donated by Merrick Dodge, and the Commerce Bank $10,000 shot. There were awesome giveaways, including a T.V., Ipods, portable DVD players, t-shirts and more!

The event was co-hosted by Adelphi's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), which also collected cans for Cans for Cancer which benefits Winthrop University Hospital's Kids With Cancer progam.
