Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University, along with hundreds of institutions across the country, will participate in the Miles for Myles fundraiser on Friday, November 6, beginning at 12:30 p.m.on the recreational jogging track in the Center for Recreation & Sports.

Developed by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) as a tribute to NCAA President Myles Brand, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on September 16, they have been joined by the WBCA, NCAA and NACDA as partners. MILES for MYLES provides an opportunity for the collegiate athletic community to demonstrate its solidarity and to raise awareness and contribute funds for cancer research, specifically in the area of pancreatic cancer.

Adelphi's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has coordinated the event and is inviting all students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and the local community to participate.

Participants will run/walk on the jogging track beginning at 1:00 p.m. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. in the same location. Each person will donate $1 per mile. Donations will also be accepted.

Each person participating in the MILES for MYLES event is asked to donate $3 ($1 per mile) which will go directly to three charitable efforts to fight pancreatic cancer. All proceeds go to:
