Garden City, N.Y. - Senior Matt Dispensa (College Point, N.Y.) and freshman Alda Ribeiro (Del Ray Beach, FL) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of the Week for the week of October 15, 2007.

Dispensa led the Panthers to a 13th place finish in a field of 26 competing schools with a 16th place finish out of 228 runners. He stopped the clock at 25:44, taking 34 seconds off of his previous personal best. Dispensa was the first Division II runner across the line. For his efforts he was named ECC Runner of the Week.

The Panthers return to action on Sunday, October 21 at the East Coast Conference Championship meet held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

Ribeiro took second place in the 2007 ECC Singles Flight Championship held at Flushing, New York this past Sunday. she finished the season 6-1 in the ECC, with a 7-1 overall record and was named ECC Rookie of the Year and first-team all-conference.

Ribeiro's finish in marks the best by an Adelphi women's tennis player since 2005 when Claudia Nunez finished second to Queens College's Dominika Bajuk.
