Adelphi University Junior Kyle Blackmer (Marcellus, N.Y.) and Jeanette Heimerle (Smithtown, N.Y.) have been selected as Adelphi University Athletes of the Week for the week of October 11, 2010.
Blackmer made his first start of the season on October 9 and made it a good one, as he made six stops and posted a clean sheet in a shut out of Hartwick. The start was the fifth of Blackmer's career and the shut out was his second in two seasons.
Adelphi returns to action on Friday, October 15 when they travel to Farmville, VA for a 7:00 pm meeting with conference rival Longwood.
Heimerle guided the Panthers to a 2-1 win week with two of the wins coming in conference play. In the three games, the junior forward scored five goals and handed out three assists. In a 3-2 overtime loss to No. 6 C.W. Post Heimerle tallied a goal, while in a 5-1 win over St. Anselm she scored three goals to go along with two assists. She ended the week with a goal and an assist in a 2-0 victory over St. Michael's on Sunday.
Heimerle and the Panthers return to action tonight, October 13 when they host the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University on Motamed Field at 7:00 p.m.
