The Men's Cross Country Team and Kristin Waldman Named Adelphi Athletes of The Week

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi men's cross country team and sophomore Kristin Waldman (East Meadow, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of The Week for the week of October 4, 2005.

Out of nine Panther harriers eight set a personal best, with junior Jaime Julia-Perez(Amsterdam, N.Y.) and graduate student Ryan Soltan (Sayville, N.Y.) placing in the top-ten. Both set personal bests with times of 25:44 and 26:03 respectively.

Freshmen Sean Harte (Queens Village, N.Y.) and Carlos Techera (Bayside, N.Y.) and sophomores Aaron Warner (Queens Village, N.Y.), Matt Dispensa (College Point, N.Y.) and Mike Dorman (Albertson, N.Y.) all finished with in 16 seconds of each other and set personal bests with time of 27:47, 27:52, 27:57, 28:01 and 28:03.

Freshman Jonathan Hilbert (Hampstead, MD) also set a personal best with a time of 30:51, while senior Mike Marzano (Whitestone, N.Y.) crossed the line in 29:00.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, October 8 when they travel to Albany, New York to compete in the St. Rose Cross Country Joust.

Waldman notched her first goal of the season and the ultimate game-winner in the 34th minute as the Adelphi University women's soccer team upset No. 13 the University of Bridgeport, 3-0. Waldman's goal helped the Panthers remain undefeated in the conference at 4-0 and improve to 5-2-1 overall

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, October 5, hosting Concordia College at 4:00 p.m.
