Garden City, N.Y. - Graduate student Marlon Bennett (Portmore, Jamaica) and senior Diana Lopez (Framingville, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of The Week for the week of October 2, 2006.

Bennett helped Adelphi to run their current win streak to five games thanks to his game winning goal. Bennett's goal came in the 28th minute and proved to be the difference in the Panthers 2-1 win over Hartwick.

Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, October 7 when they travel to Florida to take on Florida Atlantic University.

Lopez tallied her first collegiate goal in a 4-1 win over Lock Haven on September 27. She also helped the Panthers to a 3-0 week, holding their opponents to only five shots, with just three on goal. Lopez, a mainstay in the Panther backfield, has started in 55 of 65 games played during her Adelphi career.

For her efforts Lopez shared ECC Defensive Player of the Week honors with New Haven senior goalkeeper Maureen MacConnell (West Islip, N.Y.).

Adelphi (7-0-3) returns to action on Wednesday, October 4, for a 4:00 pm match-up at Queens College.
