Oct. 15, 2008 Garden City, N.Y. -  On Tuesday, October 14, Adelphi University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee sponsored Midnight Madness, an annual celebration to mark the start of the men and women's basketball seasons. Over 800 fans packed the new Center for Recreation and Sports. The lines for admission extended around the new buidling and guests were provided with megaphones courtesy of Adelphi's Student Activities Board (SAB). Fans enjoyed entertainment which included performances by Adelphi's very own Dance, Cheerleading, and Hip-Hop Teams. In addition, they participated in games and raffle entries, and prizes which included a Portable DVD Player, an iPod Shuffle, and a Razor E-300 Electric Scooter. The Men's Basketball team dazzled the crowd with a slam dunk competition in which senior Michael McDuffie won. Our Women's Basketball team paired up to battle the Men's Basketball in a three point shoots-out contest. In this showdown, the women walked away as champions. This year's event raised $2,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which made the evening even more of a success.
