Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi alumnus and former Panther Club Vice President, Dennis Lind '88, has assumed the role of president effective immediately. Lind replaces former president, Steven Wirth '70, who served the Panther Club in that capacity since the club's inception in 1992.

Director of Athletics, Robert E. Hartwell, one of the Panther Club's founders, sees this as a positive move for the university sponsored support group. "Our Panther Club is in the process of change, just as the University is changing at a rapid pace," Hartwell remarked. "The university's aggressive moves in advancement and development as well as positive changes in our Alumni Relations office will affect club and athletics."

Hartwell has tabbed Wirth to chair the newly formed Athletic Director Advisory Board that will counsel him on relevant issues effecting athletics and Adelphi. "As a director of a rapidly changing athletic program, I felt the need to ask for guidance in our very broad undertakings. I am grateful and pleased that Steve has agreed to chair this group while turning the reins over to Dennis who will guide the group in this transitional period," Hartwell said.

With Lind at the helm, the Panther Club has reinvigorated its steering committee with new members and will be charged with increasing membership and outreach efforts. "Over the past few years I've worked with our past club president, Steve Wirth, and look forward to carrying forward many of the same ideas and beliefs", Lind said. "He's a founding member and strong advocate of the Panther Club who delivered really well. We'll continue to attract new members and grow the Panther Club's stable base by re-connecting with many of Adelphi's alumni and friends."

"It's an exciting time to become more involved with Adelphi and the Panther Club", Lind stated. "There has always been strong support of the Panther Club from all facets of the University. Many of us have experienced some great years while at Adelphi which should drive us to stay in touch."

The Panther Club will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, September 30, as part of Homecoming. All alumni and friends of the university are invited to attend.
