Garden City, N.Y. - Freshmen Rob Philippou (Manhasset, N.Y.) and Denise Auer (Holbrook, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of the Week for the week of September 19, 2004.

Philippou scored his first collegiate goal in Adelphi's 3-2 win over St. Francis. Philippou's first goal could not have come at a better time for the Panthers, in the 85th minute Philippou slipped the ball into an open Terrier net to give Adelphi a 3-2 win.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, September 22nd when they play host to visiting Fairfield University at 2:00 pm on Stiles Field.

Auer had a strong showing in helping her team to their first NYCAC win of the season. With the Lady Panthers holding just a 1-0 lead late in the first half of the match with Mercy, the 5-1 freshman deflected an attempted clearing pass to extend the lead. She added another in the second half as the floodgates opened in a 7-0 Adelphi victory. For her efforts Auer was named NYCAC Rookie of the Week.

The Panthers return to action on September 22nd when they play host to visiting Queens College. Kick-off is set for 4:30 pm on Stiles Field.
