Garden City, N.Y. - Freshman Ryan Pezzulo (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and junior Ify Anene (Reynoldsburg, OH) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of the Week for the week of September 17, 2007.

Pezzulo placed 25th overall at the NYU Invitational in the 238 runner field, covering the five mile course in 27:24 in just his second collegiate race. Pezzulo's time was a new personal best and helped the Panthers to a fifth place finish out of 23 competing teams. For his efforts Pezzulo was named the ECC Rookie of the Week.

Anene captured the NYU Invitational individual title, covering the 5K course at Van Cortlandt Park in new personal best of 19:11. The victory, is the first for an Adelphi individual since the ECC Championship meet in 2002, which was won by Stephanie Henderson. Anene's finish in the 209 runner field helped the women to a fifth place finish out of 22 teams.

For her efforts Anene was named the ECC Female Runner of the Week.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, September 22 when they travel to Waterford, Connecticut to compete in the Connecticut College Invitational.
