Garden City, NY - Senior Danielle Matteo (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and junior Thorne Holder (Port of Spain, Trinidad) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of the Week for the week of September 7, 2009.

Matteo was the second runner across the line and the first Panther finisher as she stopped the clock at 19:03, a new personal best over 5K. Her finish helped Adelphi to a first place finish and a team score of 23.

Adelphi's Cross Country team returns to action September 19 at the UMass Dartmouth Invite.

Holder held Georgetown University scoreless for 110 minutes with two saves to earn his first shutout of the season. He followed that effort by giving up only one goal and stopping four shots in Adelphi's 2-1 win over Fordham. Holder finished the week with six saves and a 0.5 goals against average.

Adelphi returns to action this Friday, September 11 against Yale at the Brown Invitational.
