On April 27, 2007, Adelphi University hosted its 4th Annual National Student-Athlete Day Awards Dinner. The event, which is sponsored by Commerce Bank, recognizes and honors student-athletes who have achieved excellence in academics and athletics, while having made a significant contribution to their school and/or community.
A total of 20 student-athletes were honored, ranging from Certificate of Recognition Award winners to the night's highest honor of Presidential Awards, given to the top male and female nominees. The NSAAD Committee was comprised of Adelphi faculty, staff and administrators who reviewed applications submitted by the student-athletes.
National Student-Athlete Day has been celebrated annually on April 6 since 1987. It was created by the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS) and the Northeastern University Center for the Study of Sport in Society, wtih partnership from the NCAA and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
