May 9, 2006 Garden City, N.Y. - Senior Thomas Cali (Shirley, N.Y.) and Jessica Vogt (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of The Week for the week of May 9, 2006. Cali hit .500 (11-for-22) on the week against some of the NYCAC's best competition, totalling nine RBI with a home run and two triples vs. Dowling, STAC and Concordia. He slugged .818 on the week and reached base at a .522 clip, helping the Panthers secure a home game in the first round of the NYCAC Tournament. For his efforts, Cali was named NYCAC Co-Player of The Week. The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, May 10, when they host St. Thomas Aquinas in the first round of the NYCAC Championships. Vogt, a two-time NYCAC Rookie of the Week, is second in the league with five home runs in NYCAC play, and tops in RBI with 21. Overall, the freshman has hit .285 with a league-high 40 RBI earning NYCAC Rookie of The Year honors. Softball returns to action on Thursday, May 11, when they take on LeMoyne in the first round of the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional in Smithfield, Rhode Island. |
