Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University senior Richard McCarren (Seaford, N.Y.) and Maria Toft (Copenhagen, Denmark) have been named Adelphi Athletes of the Week for the week of April 25, 2011.

McCarren went 7-for-16 (.438) with three runs scored, five RBI, and two home runs. It's the first time this year McCarren has been named the conference's player of the week, and he is the first Adelphi player to receive the award as well.

The Panthers return to action today when they host Felician College at 3:30 p.m.

Toft, a Second-Team All-Conference selection at top-flight singles and a Third-Team pick at top-flight doubles, compiled a 15-2 record this season overall in singles action (9-1 in league play). She was also 10-2 in doubles, with a 6-1 record in NE-10 matches.

Women's tennis returns to action on Sunday, May 1, when they travel to take on Southern New Hampshire in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships at 1:00 p.m.
