The Men's 4x400 Meter Relay Team and Lauren Lopez Named Adelphi Athletes of The Week

Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University men's 4x400 meter relay team and senior Lauren Lopez (Williston Park, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of the Week for the week of April 30, 2007.

Seniors Brian Chaback (Oceanside, N.Y.) and Mark Pollard (Deer Park, N.Y.) teamed with juniors Sean Murphy (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and Aaron Warner (Queens Village, N.Y.) to place second in the Collegiate Track Conference championship held at the 113th running of the PENN Relays. The foursome posted their best time of the season, 3:21.56 to out pace third place Montclair State by four tenths of a second.

This is Adelphi's highest finish at PENN Relays in recent memory.

The Panthers will return to action on May 5 when they travel to Kings Point, New York to compete in the Kings Point Invitational.

Lopez posted 18 points on the week, scoring 10 goals and handing out eight assists, helping the Panthers to a perfect 3-0 week. She had five goals and three assists in a win at Bryant on Saturday, added two goals and two assists in a win over Southern Connecticut State and had three goals and three assists against St. Thomas Aquinas.

For her efforts Lopez was named the ECC Co-Player of the Week.

Adelphi closed out their regular season with an overall record of 13-2 and a conference mark of 4-1.
