Women's Tennis Represents Adelphi At Northeast-10 Conference SAAC Meeting

March 23, 2010

Garden City, N.Y. -

Two members of the Adelphi University women's tennis team, senior Tricia Burns and junior Jamie Sussman, participated in the two-day Northeast-10 Conference SAAC meeting at the Renaissance Boston Patriot Place in Foxboro, Massachusetts on February 12-13.

Northeast-10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert, Assistant Commissioner Molly Meyers, Assistant Commissioner/SWA Amy Wibel, and Lauren Silva from American International College, the Division II National SAAC member for the NE-10, led the group of student-athletes throughout the meeting.

The first thing that the students were introduced to was the creation of the Northeast-10 Conference SAAC Newsletter, as well as the First Annual NE-10 SAAC Olympics, in which every student-athlete got to participate in.

The student-athletes were also involved in discussion topics such as intra-conference transfer policy, as well as "Phrase 2". The intra-conference transfer policy deals with all the aspects of student-athletes transferring for various reasons, and if transferring schools is the right choice. The topic, "Phrase 2", discusses all of the aspects of the life of a student-athlete.

The D-II National SAAC Committee renewed its contract for Make-A-Wish that is two or three years. The student-athletes were also told to keep in mind of how to keep a positive game environment. Lastly, the group was asked their interest level of doing a Habitat for Humanity event next summer.
