March 22, 2005 Garden City, N.Y. - Seniors Adam Kipling (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Katherine Hock (Mineola, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of The Week for the week of March 22, 2005. Kipling tossed a no-hitter on March 19 against Concordia College. Kipling pitched all seven innings, walking just two batter and striking out two to pick up the 7-0 win and throw the first no-hitter in Adelphi history. For his efforts Kipling was named NYCAC Pitcher of The Week Adelphi will return to action on March 22 when they travel to Kutztown, Pennsylvania to take on the Golden Bears. Hock totaled 12 points during the week to lead #1 Adelphi to a 3-0 record with wins over St. Thomas Aquinas (20-3), Merrimack (16-6) and Assumption (20-1). Hock tallied two goals and an assist in Adelphi's win over St. Thomas Aquinas and two goals against Merrimack. She scored five goals and handed out two assists against Assumption, including scoring her 200th career point. Hock, Adelphi's all-time leading scorer, became the first player in Adelphi history to score 200 career points with her second goal of the game against Assumption. Her career total know stands at 204. The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, March 23 when they take on New Haven at 3:30 pm on Stiles Field. |
