DANCE TEAM
The AU Dance Team consists of trained dancers, who perform primarily at the Men and Women's home basketball games, as well as select away games. The team is lead by first year head coach Meghan Maletich and assistant coach Jenna Godowin. The team is supported and funded by the University's Athletic Department. The Dance Team combines many different forms of dance in their routines, including but not limited to: Jazz, Funk, Pom, Hip-Hop, and Bellydancing.

Performances can be seen at the Men's and Women's Basketball games during halftime and time-outs and other University events, such as Midnight Madness, the Homecoming Pep Rally, and the Homecoming Game. The Dance Team also commits a lot of time to various fundraisers located on and off campus. The American Heart Association Heart Walk, Media for Humanities, and volunteering with people with disabilities, are just a few of them. In the past te team has participated in UDA, NDA, and Scholastic Competitions. In December the team participated in Move Against Aids Dance-A-Thon.

  • On January 30, 2006 the Dance Team was awarded a Silver Medal at The Footloose Regional Dance Competition in East Islip, with their performance "Such A Girl". The Team went on to compete in NDA Regionals in SUNY Albany, on March 13.
