Garden City, N.Y. - Senior James Samuels (Uniondale, N.Y.) and junior Carlyshia Hurdle (Brentwood, N.Y.) have been named Adelphi's Athletes of The Week for the week of March 1, 2005.

Samuels averaged 13.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in two Panther wins last week. In Adelphi's win over Dowling, Samuels scored 15 points and in a victory against visiting Philadelphia he chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds. Samuels also reached the 1,000-point mark for his career when he scored his seventh point against Philadelphia.

Adelphi will return to action on March 12 if they get a bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Hurdle closed out the regular-season with a strong week, posting 19.0 ppg and 12.5 rpg to go along with 3.0 blocks per game in helping the Panthers to a 1-1 record. Hurdle's performance included her 1,000th career points in the first half against Philadelphia University as she finished with 23 points.
