March 2, 2004 Garden City, N.Y. - Freshman Kimani Blaize (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and senior Jamie Douglas (Hopatcong, N.J.) have been Adelphi's Athletes of the Week for the week of March 2, 2004. Blaize averaged 14 points, seven rebounds and two steals for the week, including a breakout performance against Dowling. He posted career highs in points (21) and rebounds (11) to help Adelphi edge the Golden Lions. It was also Blaize's first double-double of his career. He also chipped in with seven points, three rebounds and two steals to help the Panthers stun Bridgeport. For his efforts Blaize was named the NYCAC Rookie of the Week. The Panthers return to action Wednesday, March 3rd when they travel to Old Westbury to take on NYIT in the first round of the NYCAC playoffs at 7:00 pm. Douglas registered back-to-back double-double on the week. Scoring 10 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in Adelphi's win over Bridgeport. Then coming back and scoring a team-high 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in The Panthers loss to Dowling. For the week Douglas averaged 14.5 points and 10 rebounds a game. Douglas was also selected to the NYCAC All-Conference second-team for the second consecutive year. Adelphi returns to action Wednesday March 3rd when they play host to Queens College in the first round of the NYCAC playoffs, tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.. |
