Garden City, N.Y. - Senior Richard Byrd (Central Islip, N.Y.) and Elizabeth Eickelberg (Leonia, NJ) have been named Adelphi University Athletes of The Week for the week of February 21, 2011.

Byrd helped the Panthers to a 2-0 week, that included wins over regionally ranked Southern Connecticut and AIC. He averaged 17.5 points and 4.5 rebounds on the week and put up 19 points in a 69-63 home win over AIC, including hitting on all six free attempts in the final 21 seconds to seal the win.

Adelphi closes out the regular season on Wednesday, February 23 when they travel to West Haven, Connecticut to take on New Haven.

Eickelberg played a big role for the women at the Northeast-10 Championships as she was the highest placed individual finisher on the women's track and field team. Eickelberg finished third in the 5,000 meter run on February 17 at the Reggie Lewis Center, stopping the clock at 18:41.50, a personal best. She also anchored Adelphi's distance medley relay to a fourth place finish.

Track and field return to action on Friday, February 25 when they travel to the Armory Track and Field Center to compete in the Armory Collegiate Challenge.
