Garden City, N.Y. - Sophomore Mychael Fabio (Huntington, N.Y.) and senior Danielle Matteo (Valley Stream, N.Y.) have been selected as the Adelphi Athletes of the Week for February 23 for their strong performances at the Northeast-10 Indoor Track Championships.

At the Northeast-10 Championship meet Fabio helped the Panthers to a fifth place team finish as he captured first overall in the 400 meter dash and second overall in the 200 meter dash. His time of 48.96 in the 400 meter dash set a new meet record and was almost .20 faster then second place, while his time of 21.97 in the 200 meter dash was just .06 seconds out of first. In addition Fabio was the second leg of Adelphi's third place 4x400 meter relay that ran a season best time of 3:21.46, helping Fabio account for 24 of Adelphi's 63 points.

Matteo had a very successful Northeast-10 Indoor Championshp debut, capturing the school's first NE-10 individual track and field title in the first event on the track at the Reggie Lewis Center on February 18. She placed first overall in the 5000 meter run in a personal best time of 18:25.68, just over a second ahead of second place. Matteo also came back to sixth in the 3000 meter run (10:53.41) and helped the 4x800 meter relay team to a fifth place finish (10:28.94). In all she accounted for 13 of Adelphi's 48 points.
