NYCAC Celebrates Its Senior Female Athletes

Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi University hosted the third annual NYCAC Senior Female Athlete Brunch on Sunday, February 1 in the Ruth S. Harley University Center. The event brought in approximately 250 student athletes, coaches and administrators, the largest number since the event's inception in 2001.

The guests were treated to two engaging guest speakers. Katherine Hutchinson, Director of Career Services at St. Thomas Aquinas College, spoke to the student athletes on career services and how to utilize their institutions' career center for such things as resume writing and interviewing skills. Suzette Thweatt-McQueen, Director of Athletic Media Relations at Adelphi University recounted her experiences as a student-athlete at the University of Michigan. She also spoke of "life after college", and provided some helpful tips for career success.

In addition, NYCAC Commissioner Carmine Calzonetti presented the Academic Award to C.W. Post Lauren Cramer. A public relations major, Cramer has maintained a 3.99 gpa, while also participating in women's lacrosse.

The senior female brunch coincides with National Girls and Women in Sports Day which honors the achievements of female athletes by celebrating Title IX.
